Since my early teens I have always enjoyed drawing and painting. Through turbulent teenage years leading into the onset of the Northern Ireland “Troubles” and my time as an art student at the Ulster College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London, I discovered that my art practice was a valuable safety valve in learning about and dealing with the roller coaster ride of modern life. With many years of daily practice and a keen study of art history I have developed a pictorial language that allows me to respond to my immediate environment and the people who inhabit it. This response is not just about recording but involves an emotional insight into the complexities of social interaction.
